Starting Scenes
Every Main Character needs a starting scene before the world can be published.
Open the Main Character, select Starting Scene, and write the opening from that character's viewpoint.
This is how a player first becomes part of the world. The Codex already exists. The starting scene is the door.
Start in motion
Use a physical, emotional, or social moment the player can respond to immediately.
Good openings provide:
- A clear present situation.
- One immediate pressure or unanswered question.
- Sensory grounding.
- A reason to make a choice now.
Avoid opening with several paragraphs of history before anything can happen.
Offer meaningful choices
Add at least one player option. Strong options express different intentions rather than cosmetic wording.

Confront the gate captain about the missing names.
Hide the ledger and follow the courier into the rain.
Ask the shrine keeper what the bell is warning about. The player can make later choices during the generated journey, so the starting options only need to launch distinct approaches.
Keep it consistent
Check that the scene matches:
- The world's Starting Time.
- The Main Character's appearance and known history.
- Their current location and relationships.
- The entry World Phase.
- Public knowledge versus Secret Infos and Hidden Truths.
